Carlos MartÃnez-Cagnazzo is Chief Technology Strategist (CTS) of LACNIC, the Internet Address Registry for Latin America and the Caribbean. He has been involved in the promotion of IPv6 and DNSSEC adoption, as well as in Resource Certification (RPKI) implementation and deployment. He has actively participated in various regional and global technology, standardization, and Internet governance forums.
While already at LACNIC, Carlos collaborated in the expansion of capacity building programs such as +RAICES and the promotion of Internet Exchange Points (IXP). His areas of interest include Internet measurements with a focus on the benefits of Internet Exchange Points (IXPs), security of the elements that are essential to the Internet, such as domain name routing and security, as well as DDoS attack mitigation and DNSSEC deployment.
Carlos has a degree in Electrical Engineering and began his professional career in IP network planning and operation. From 2005 to 2010, he worked exclusively in the field of computer security, in particular, helping to create his country's first Computer Security Incident Response Team (CSIRT). Carlos has also taught Computer Security and Computer Networks in different universities in Uruguay.
