Tony Smith is the Director – Strategy and Deputy Director General of APNIC, the Regional Internet Registry for the Asia Pacific. In his current role, Tony is responsible for leading both the Member & Registry Services and Development business units, and guides strategic planning and implementation across the organisation. Prior to this, he was responsible for overseeing all corporate operations underpinning APNIC, and also led the organization’s communications function for several years.

Before joining APNIC, Tony worked in the domain name industry with Melbourne IT, and has been in the Internet and technology industry for more than 27 years, including 10 years providing strategic communications consultancy to companies such as Cisco, Nokia, Microsoft, Intel and NTT.
